Berlin-based musician Nene H has recently released her new body of work, titled ‘ISSA SCAM’, which includes six-and-a-half tracks. The mini-album merges concepts of self-irony with a commentary on society. The inspiration behind the tracks came from memes, the continuously changing online terrain, and digital trends. The artist provides a humorous take on the future of contemporary culture online.
Two of the track features collaborator Bubblegun. The tracks blend topics of TikTok and transform them into upbeat, pop-infused tracks while offering a satirical commentary on issues like mental health and plastic surgery. Nene H, in this album, balances cultural analysis with self-mockery. The Berlin-based musician creates groove, hook-like samples, and meticulously crafted basslines, which add to her discography of production and DJ sets.
Nene H’s music style includes Turkish-German hip hop, techno, ghetto house, and music rooted in Azerbaijani and Turkish sounds when growing up. She explains that while creating this album, the current online landscape was different; however, the complete concept is indicative of the chaos and absurdity that defines the digital era. The project is a satirical love letter to the digital world and the new wave of electronic music that defines this era.
In a departure from her usually sombre work, ‘ISSA SCAM’ is a necessary comedic palate cleanser. The musician embraced the ridiculousness and finds humor in the collective online hysteria. It emerged as a celebration of the period we’re living in – acknowledging the monstrous, bizarre, yet fascinating period we’re navigating.
‘ISSA SCAM’ is available now, and listeners can check it out on this website. Nene H continues to make a mark with her music, and the world is excited about what she will create next
