British rock band Catfish and the Bottlemen have given fans a preview of their new music after announcing five years ago that they were getting back to work. The preview is a six-second snippet which the band posted on their social media channels and it features their lead vocalist Van McCann singing, “Back to the graft again, just sold my voice for a long weekend.” The band has not provided a lot of information about their upcoming music, but the teaser seems to have piqued the interest of their fans.
Catfish and the Bottlemen have not played live together since 2021, when they headlined Reading and Leeds, and performed at a couple of outdoor gigs in Swansea and Warrington. Following the shows, rumors about the band splitting up started circulating. However, they have been booked to headline Reading and Leeds again this year. Liam Gallagher, Blink-182, Gerry Cinnamon, Fred Again.. and Lana Del Rey are some of the other artists headlining the festival.
The live shows that the band is set to announce in the coming days will be their first since guitarist Johnny “Bondy” Bond left the group. He confirmed his departure from the band in 2022, citing “behaviour constantly re-occurring that I found to be intolerable” and explaining that he felt “both the professional and personal relationships had become entirely dysfunctional.” He went on to say that he played four summer shows with the band in 2021 as there was no one else ready to do so.
Catfish and the Bottlemen’s last album, The Balance, was released in 2019. The band has not provided a lot of details about their upcoming music, but the teaser seems to suggest that fans can expect new releases from them soon
