Elkka, the Cardiff-born DJ and producer, has revealed that her first album, ‘Prism of Pleasure,’ will be available on May 3 via Ninja Tune. The album will feature ten tracks that Elkka wrote over the course of eighteen months and which will explore queer intimacy and Elkka’s identity as an LGBTQ+ artist. Elkka also shared that the EP artwork which features Elkka was photographed by her wife and artistic collaborator Alex Lambert, representing the female gaze. The single ‘Make Me’ from the album is available now.
In a press release, Elkka stated that she was never taught about queer pleasure and never understood how important it is, not only sexually but also in life. She wanted her album to offer a deep exploration and celebration of just how far she has come. ‘Make Me’ is one of the first tracks from her album, with its vibrant and sensual disco-esque vocals, capturing the sensual joy of Elkka standing tall as a bold, queer woman.
She also shared her excitement on Instagram, revealing that “Make Me is one of the first tracks I wrote for this project. It really sums up the album for me. Its about connection and vulnerability you feel with someone whilst laced with this uncontrollable intensity and passion.”
Elkka is also the founder of Femme Culture, an independent record label and artist collective that focuses on working with underrepresented creatives and building a community. With her album, Elkka wants to create a space where people can embrace their sexual identity and celebrate the fullness of life
