The CEO of Ghost Ship Games, Søren Lundgaard, has revealed that the studio has been approached about creating a TV series based on their popular video game, Deep Rock Galactic. The game is a first-person shooter featuring “badass space Dwarves, 100 per cent destructible environments, procedurally-generated caves, and endless hordes of alien monsters.” Deep Rock Galactic racked up 8 million sales while in Early Access, with millions more joining in when the game was released on Sony’s Playstation Plus subscription service.
Following the success of TV adaptations of other popular video games such as Cyberpunk 2077, League of Legends, and The Last of Us, Lundgaard confirmed that the studio had already been approached by a production company about the possibility of a Deep Rock Galactic TV series. The CEO explained that creating a TV series was undoubtedly viable, but the game’s developers were currently busy with other projects.
While Lundgaard did not mention the studio or production company that had expressed interest in Deep Rock Galactic, he did confirm that Ghost Ship Games would want to be involved in the project if it went ahead. Speaking about the potential TV show, fans have suggested two approaches to adapting Deep Rock Galactic, proposing either an action-packed series following the dwarves’ descent into Hoxxes or a relaxed sitcom about the dwarves drinking and hanging out between missions.
