Actor Joseph Quinn, famously known for his role in Stranger Things, has signed to star in Bret Easton Ellis’ directorial debut, Relapse, which is a horror-thriller film. The film’s storyline revolves around a young man, Matt Cullen, who experiences a traumatic existence after witnessing a killing at a party. This event led him to rehab, where he recovered and seemed like he had overcome his problem, but social media, along with personal prior haunts, destabilises his rehabilitation program. Matt’s addiction returns strongly, and a creature that had plagued Matt since his teenage years reveals themselves to him.

Variety describes the movie as “direct and impactful,” something that Bret Easton Ellis, the American Psycho novelist, favours, and he calls it a “fun, lush and commercial feature film for a lot of people to enjoy” that has his hallmarks of “sex, drugs, and paranoia.” Ellis admits that it seems apt that his debut as a feature film director would be in the horror genre since he grew up watching iconic horror movies of the 70s and authored a horror novel “Lunar Park” as an homage to renowned author Stephen King.

Quinn has worked across the entertainment industry, including signing up for Marvel’s Fantastic Four, which features Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Vanessa Kirby. He is also set to venture into his upcoming horror-thriller movie, A Quiet Place: Day One, which is scheduled for release in June.

Aside from Quinn’s excellent acting skills, Ellis felt undoubtedly comfortable picking him for this role because he has an impressive record: he won the Ian Charleson Award and was nominated for an Olivier Award for his part in the play “The Watsons” at the Menier Chocolate Factory and Harold Pinter Theatre
