Seasick Steve announces new album and shares lead single ‘Backbone Slip’

Blues musician Seasick Steve has unveiled his upcoming album titled ‘A Trip A Stumble A Fall Down On Your Knees’ and released its lead single ‘Backbone Slip’. The album is slated to be released on June 7 on SO Recordings and can be pre-ordered through the link provided. The musician has also made plans for a series of UK instore and outstore live shows to coincide with the record’s launch.

In his comments on the new song, Steve revealed that it is “all about letting loose”, saying that “some people just can’t let loose, like a wooden statue”. The blues musician also reflected on the making of the album stating, “this album was made by mistake, as the title suggests we just tripped and stumbled into it, and it became my favourite album ever and the piece of work I’m most proud of to date”. He added that he is grateful for his performance on Jools Holland’s annual New Year’s Eve BBC show where he experienced a career resurgence after being a session player and part-time producer.

Seasick Steve has also been included in the lineup for this year’s Black Deer Festival alongside other musicians like Sheryl Crow, Courtney Barnett, The Staves, and Villagers. The festival is slated to take place in Eridge Park, Kent from June 14-16. In addition, Steve has also announced plans to play six live shows throughout June, with tickets available on the link provided.

The six shows detailed are Banquet Records @ Pryzm in Kingston, Rough Trade East in London, HMV Oxford Street in London, Rough Trade in Bristol and Nottingham, and Crash Records @ Brudenell Social Club in Leeds. With everything in place, Seasick Steve fans can look forward to a busy schedule ahead and the release of his new album
