Salute, the DJ and producer, has released his first single of the year called ‘system.’ The track, which is a collaboration with Empress Of, was debuted by Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo. ‘System’ is an ode to UK club culture and has a playful feel to it. The release marks the first taste of a bigger project that Salute has in the works.
In an interview with Amfo, Salute spoke about the creative process that went into ‘system.’ He revealed that it was inspired by old French records and that it is the sound he wants to get across. Salute also praised the “beautiful” collaboration that he had with Karma Kid, Andy Smith and Baz Kayen, who brought the song to fruition.
The celebratory lyrics of ‘system’ were co-written and vocalised by Empress Of. Salute expressed his admiration for Empress Of and revealed that he had been wanting to work with her for a number of years. He also hinted that there are more collaborations to come from the two artists.
Salute’s release has already garnered praise from the likes of Sammy Virji, DJ Seinfield, Disclosure and Luke Fono.
