Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson has been hospitalised after falling ill during training on Thursday morning. The 76-year-old is said to be in a stable condition and is currently undergoing tests. However, it has been widely reported that Hodgson is set to lose his job, with Oliver Glasner tipped as a strong favourite to replace him.
Palace cancelled a news conference following Hodgson’s collapse. The club is currently 15th in the Premier League and five points clear of the relegation zone, having won only three league games since their victory over Manchester United in September.
Hodgson took charge of his 200th match as Palace manager earlier this week, with his side losing 3-1 at home to Chelsea. Hodgson previously managed the English national team and is in his second stint in charge of Palace, having returned for the final 10 games of last season.
Supporters have become increasingly vocal in their criticism of Hodgson, with banners and fans chanting for his sacking in recent weeks. In particular, he was criticised for substituting Eberechi Eze after 64 minutes in their defeat against Everton, and for sending on Michael Olise as a substitute during a game against Brighton despite the winger struggling with injury.
