‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ update ghosts fans on Valentine’s Day

Larian Studios, the developer of Baldur’s Gate 3, recently teased the game’s upcoming sixth patch, which fans theorized would be dropping on Valentine’s Day. However, the developer responded to these speculations by posting a meme of children’s television character Pingu, containing the text “well now I am not doing it.” This confirmed that the patch would not be available on Valentine’s Day.

Considering Larian Studios’ patch release history for the game, the update was most likely never going to launch on Valentine’s Day. The studio has typically launched patches on Thursdays, with only two exceptions, suggesting a pattern they are following.

The upcoming patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 will add several quality of life features to the game, including the ability to dismiss a companion from your party without having to directly talk to them. Additionally, the patch adds new animations that trigger during romance scenes and fixes several minor bugs that fans have been reporting.

The patch weighs in at 21GB and will require 150GB of free space if it’s being installed on PC or Steam Deck. In other gaming news, the developer of Helldivers 2 has explained why a PvP mode will “never” come to the game
