Jennifer Lopez says Ayo Edebiri apologised for calling her career “one long scam”

Ayo Edebiri has apologised to Jennifer Lopez for insulting her career on a 2020 episode of the Scam Goddess podcast. Edebiri, who stars in The Bear, had described Lopez’s career as “one long scam,” agreeing with host Laci Mosley’s claim that the singer “can’t sing.” The comments resurfaced earlier this month ahead of Edebiri’s hosting stint on Saturday Night Live, where Lopez was a musical guest. In a new interview with Variety, Lopez revealed that Edebiri approached her to apologise before the SNL episode, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things.

During the SNL episode, Edebiri herself acknowledged the comments during a game show skit where participants confronted their past social media posts. Lopez is releasing a new album, This Is Me…Now, which is set for release this Friday, accompanied by a film offering a fictionalised account of her real-life romance with Ben Affleck. Edebiri, on the other hand, will return in season 3 of The Bear this June.

Although Edebiri has apologised, Lopez told Variety that she has “heard similar things said about me throughout my career, so it really didn’t affect me.” Her new album is eagerly awaited by fans, while Edebiri’s career continues to blossom
