A Swansea Crown Court has opened to decide about the brutal murder case where a man allegedly killed his older brother in May 2023. Darren Steel, 39, from Morriston, Swansea, faces murder charges on the murder accusation by prosecutor Caroline Rees. Rees alleged Steel killed his brother, Martin Steel, and abandoned his dead body in an armchair to fill grief in their mother’s mind. However, the accused pleaded innocent and claimed the murder was in self-defense.
Steel and Martin’s volatile relationships were frequently love-hate and more explosive when both involved alcohol, said Rees. She added that Darren Steel was jealous of Martin’s success, bringing black and angry moods, and finally drove him to kill. Nonetheless, Darren Steel did not attempt to save his older brother after the brutal attack or expedite medical assistance, said Rees.
