H.E.R. remembers singing aged 11 at a 49ers game after Super Bowl Halftime appearance

As an 11-year-old, H.E.R. performed the national anthem at a San Francisco 49ers game, and she shared a touching photograph of the moment on her official Instagram account recently. She wrote in the caption: “In honor of the niners at #superbowllviii here’s me at 11 singing national anthem at the 49ers game.” This post turned out to be a moment of foresight as H.E.R. joined Usher on stage during the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show, which was one of the most-watched television broadcasts of all time.

At the Halftime Show, H.E.R. performed on guitar with Usher, playing renditions of ‘U Got It Bad’ and ‘Bad Girl’. Other special performances during the show included appearances from Ludacris, Lil Jon, Alicia Keys, and will.i.am. Later, H.E.R. got back on her Instagram and wrote: “CAN’T SPELL USHER WITHOUT H.E.R. HALFTIME SHOW?!?!???? WHAAAAAAT. AND IT WAS THE GREATEST EVER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TALENT, YOUR LOVE, AND FOR SHARING THIS MOMENT WITH ME. WOW, I HAVE NO WORDS.”

H.E.R. released her debut album, ‘Back of My Mind,’ in 2021, which received a four-star review by NME. The publication described it as “a dazzling debut from an artist who’s so in command of her own sound that it’s almost jarring when ‘Exhausted’ includes a shout-out to producer Darkchild. Most exciting of all is the bright future surely ahead of her.” H.E.R.’s most recent release is a cover of the Foo Fighters’ song, ‘The Glass,’ from their album ‘But Here We Are,’ released in December last year.

Throughout H.E.R.’s career, she has received several accolades for her music, including a Grammy and an Academy Award for her work on ‘Fight for You,’ a song from the movie ‘Judas and the Black Messiah.’ She has also won the Song of the Year award for her protest song, ‘I Can’t Breathe,’ which was released in response to the death of George Floyd in 2020
