‘Fortnite’ ‘Doctor Who’ crossover is a “complete myth”, says showrunner

The recent rumour about a crossover between Doctor Who and Fortnite has been confirmed as a “myth” according to the showrunner of the former, Russell T Davies. Responding to a question on Instagram about a potential collaboration, Davies said, “There isn’t one! It’s a complete myth, I’m afraid x.” The supposed crossover was fuelled by leaks from reliable sources in both fanbases, which included details of skins for various Doctors, TARDIS gliders, emotes, and pickaxes, as well as an item referencing a character from Doctor Who known as Beep the Meep. Despite the leaks, it seems there were never any concrete plans for a crossover.

The next episode of Doctor Who’s fourteenth series is scheduled to air in May of this year, with Davies confirmed to be the writer behind three episodes, including the Christmas special that introduced the Doctor’s new companion Ruby Sunday. Ncuti Gatwa, who plays the Fifteenth Doctor, is the first black actor to portray the character and is also the first gay Doctor.

In other news, Ubisoft has revealed that the standard edition of its upcoming pirate action-adventure game, Skull & Bones, will be priced at £50 ($70). The studio has defended the price tag, saying it reflects the “vast and complete” nature of the game. The game is set to be released later this year.

While the prospect of a Doctor Who/Fortnite crossover may have been exciting for fans of both franchises, it seems as though it was never anything more than speculation. Doctor Who fans can look forward to more content from the show later this year, including three episodes from Russell T Davies. Skull & Bones fans can also look forward to the game’s release later this year at a price point that Ubisoft believes reflects its size and scope
