The developers of ‘Escape From Tarkov’ have added new microtransactions with the release of its 0.14.1.0 update. Users are now able to purchase stash expansion options and access the practice co-op mode. Players can invest in additional stash lines regardless of their game edition. Offline co-op practice mode was originally only available for those using the limited-edition ‘Edge of Darkness’ beta but is now offered to every player for a fee. Furthermore, players can pay for early-access to new clothing items available on the official ‘Escape From Tarkov’ website.
Before the update, the game did not have any additional cash flow or purchasable options. Nikita Buyanov, CEO of Battlestate Games, discussed the added microtransactions in a Reddit post. Buyanov wrote that sought to add these options as they removed the ‘Edge of Darkness’ edition and some of its features needed to be implemented. He also stated that there would be no in-game money, items, weapons, or gear available for purchase, nor would gamers be able to pay to boost their stats. Lastly, the stash expansion could be earned in-game without spending any funds.
The move by ‘Escape From Tarkov’ marks the first time that the game has implemented microtransactions. In response to the rollout, gamers have expressed tentatively positive responses, with some users eager for extra cosmetic features for hideouts. However, most voiced their concerns over pay-to-win features and the issue of the game’s realism being undermined. Buyanov, for his part, explained that the increased inventory stash could be earned in-game naturally and that there would be no option to purchase stat boosts.
In addition to these new features, the update includes changes to the game’s armour and various other tweaks and modifications. Meanwhile, Sébastien Benard, the designer of ‘Dead Cells’, has called out developers Motion Twin for discontinuing updates to the game
