Taylor Swift will reportedly begin working on her feature directorial debut upon the completion of her ‘Eras Tour’, which is anticipated to be no later than early 2025. In December, it was announced that the singer-songwriter had written an original script for a feature length film, of which the plot and characters remain unknown. Searchlight Pictures presidents, David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, said the company was excited to collaborate with Swift, whom they described as a “a genuine joy and privilege to work with”. Swift has previously directed videos for two of her tracks, ‘All Too Well’ and ‘The Man’, for which she won MTV VMAs for Best Direction. She has also appeared in several films including Cats, Valentine’s Day, and Amsterdam.
Swift recently revived two tracks, ‘The Outside’ and ‘Superman’, as part of the Tokyo, Japan leg of her ‘Eras Tour’. She noted that she wanted to perform some “throwback” tracks before dusting off ‘Superman’ for its first live outing since 2011. Swift also played a piano version of ‘The Outside’, which she wrote when she was 12 years old, for the first time since 2008.
Swift announced earlier this week that an extended version of her ‘Eras Tour’ concert film will be released globally on Disney+ on March 15. Additionally, her 11th studio album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, is set to be released on April 19, with the full tracklist available to view online. Swift’s fans have been speculating that she could be in attendance at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas to show support for her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, whose team is playing against the San Francisco 49ers
