Dave Clarke’s iconic ‘Red 2’ EP has finally been released for digital consumption via Skint Records, more than two decades since its original release in 1994. The EP contains two classic tracks – ‘Wisdom To The Wise’ with its thumping kicks and sharp sequences, and ‘Gonk’ which features a percussive shuffle with an electro hook. This digital re-release is part of the entire ‘Red’ series that has been compiled.
Dave Clarke, a British techno veteran, revealed that the inspiration for ‘Wisdom To The Wise’ came from the track ‘I am House’ by ‘The Elect’ in 1986. This was before house music gained popularity in the UK south coast. The deep lyrics and atmosphere of the track had a lasting impact on Clarke, and it inspired him to create his own rendition with the title ‘Wisdom To The Wise.’ The title signified that the track was for those who knew the difference and was a nod to the sub-culture of the then-nascent scene where techno was starting to take over.
Additionally, a boxset edition of the ‘Archive One’ album has been announced, 30 years after its initial release. It is available for pre-order now. The boxset will include the remastered album along with coloured vinyl singles of the ‘Red’ series, a signed photo print, rare photos, sleeve notes, and ‘Red’ remixes by renowned artists such as The Chemical Brothers, DJ Sneak, Umek, Robert Hood, Surgeon, and DJ Rush. The tour is set to traverse through the UK, France, Portugal, Spain, Germany, Luxembourg, Poland, and Ireland.
It’s a grand occasion for fans, as they can now relive two of Clarke’s finest records digitally and cherish the rest of the era through the boxset while revelling in the best of techno culture. You can pre-order the boxset of ‘Archive One’ from Skint Records website.
