Grammy-winning singer Usher has shared details of a disturbing malfunction he experienced during his Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2011. The artist, who performed in a surprise set during the Black Eyed Peas’ headline show, revealed that ahead of a planned grand entrance, his hand became entangled in the rope holding him up, and he almost missed his opening cue.

In a press conference for his upcoming 2024 Super Bowl headline show, the R&B star described the moment when his hand got caught in the loop, and his concern that the technical hitch might cause him to miss his first mark. While discussing his memories of the experience, Usher also spoke about his excitement at the prospect of performing live again at the event. He explained how much he had enjoyed the energy of being onstage in front of such a huge crowd, and how this had motivated him to work towards his forthcoming headline show.

Fans can catch Usher on tour later this year as part of his ‘Past Present Future’ tour, which has 24 dates scheduled across the US, starting in August. Tickets are available to purchase now via Ticketmaster.

Usher recently released his latest album, ‘Coming Home’, his first full-length release in five years since 2016’s ‘Hard II Love’.
