Dua Lipa has unveiled that she composed a staggering 97 songs for her forthcoming third album. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the pop sensation spoke out about her songwriting process during the follow-up to the Grammy-winning Future Nostalgia album, which contains the recently released single, ‘Houdini’. In the same segment, she gave Kimmel the book where she composed “every single song I’ve written for this album,” complete with doodles of flowers, nautilus shells, and the word “LOVE” written in the corner.
Although Lipa admitted that “lots” of the less successful tracks did not make the final album, the singer has been working much more extensively on her latest project. She remarked that she wrote most songs in the book multiple times since she didn’t dedicate the same amount of implementation on her previous works. She also said that the songs on ‘Future Nostalgia’ do not reflect her self-assurance as a singer or songwriter, and by rewriting them, she’s more confident about her performance and how she wants things to sound and appear.
The “Levitating” singer had previously teased the musical direction of her third album, citing Primal Scream, Oasis, Blur, Gorillaz, Massive Attack, and Moby as influences of the “psychedelic pop-infused” sound. Lipa has also been working with Kevin Parker, the frontman of Tame Impala, on her latest project. Parker called her a “fierce editor” while describing how they collaborated on ‘Houdini’, noting that it took months to complete.
In other recent news, she has referred to her new album as “raw” and an attempt to capture “the essence of youth and freedom and having fun.” No release date for the upcoming LP is announced, but fans are eagerly awaiting the singer’s third album’s release.
The ‘Be the One’ singer has now become one of the world’s most successful stars. Since signing her first record deal in 2015, Dua Lipa has transitioned from being an internet favorite to an international sensation. In addition, the pop star has won accolades for her hit singles ‘New Rules’ and ‘Don’t start now,’ while also collaborating with Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris, and others
