Claire Rousay has revealed the details of her latest album, ‘Sentiment’, to be released on April 19 via Thrill Jockey. The record, which acts as a meditative concoction of emotions such as sentimentality, guilt, loneliness, nostalgia, and sex, evokes an intimate narrative accentuated by vulnerability and unexpected influences.
The announcement comes alongside the current release of two lead singles, titled ‘Head’ and ‘ily2’, featuring Hand Habits. While ‘Head’ welcomes guitars and strings with percussives and lyrics borrowing from slowcore-esque sounds, ‘ily2’ acts as the album’s closer and brings together the patchwork of emotions prevalent across the album.
Describing her work, Rousay said,”I have been on a quest to communicate my feelings and ideas as clearly as possible lately,” adding that, “Pop seemed like the way to do that this time.” She further added, “This album is a step in a new direction for me. I want to thank all my friends and family who have listened to dozens of versions of the songs on this record. Your patience is what holds me together.”
Fans can now pre-order ‘Sentiment’, with both ‘Head’ and ‘ily2’ available for streaming through this link
