Aran Murphy, the son of Irish actor Cillian Murphy, is following in his father’s footsteps by appearing in films. The 16-year-old made his acting debut at the age of 11 in the production of Hamnet which toured Dublin, London, New York, Boston, Brisbane, and Hong Kong. Aran played the lead character in the production. He also starred in the film Lola alongside Emma Appleton in 2022. Klara and the Sun, directed by Taika Waititi, will be Aran’s first feature film in which he will portray a character named Rick. The film is adapted based on a bestselling novel, which revolves around a robot girl’s attempt to save a heartbroken family.
Jenna Ortega and Amy Adams will also appear in the film. Ortega will play Klara, the robot, while Adams will portray her mother in the film. Cillian Murphy, Aran’s father, is also in the headlines for his recent Oscar nomination for his role in Oppenheimer. He is among the five nominees for Best Actor, and it is his first Oscar nomination.
When Cillian found out about the nomination, he was at his parents’ house in Ireland, drinking tea before his phone started ringing.
