In this week’s edition of Best New Tracks, the NME team unearths some of the best new music releases from around the world. From 1999 Write The Future’s debut album, featuring guest appearances from stars like Ghostface Killah and BadBadNotGood, to Beth Gibbons’ stunning new solo effort ‘Floating On A Moment’, it’s been a good week for new music.
Glorilla’s “Yeah Glo” is an unabashedly loud and vibrant comeback single, charting the Memphis rapper’s illustrious career so far. Meanwhile, Little Simz continues her unstoppable rise with her latest single “Mood Swings”, the latest addition to her twin EP series.
Elsewhere, Love Remain’s “LDN Girls” provides a moving tribute to Gboyega Odubanjo, a rising London poet who died tragically at the Shambala Festival in 2023. MRCY’s debut single “Lorelei” is a gorgeously psychedelic vision of romantic confusion and unburdening. Finally, Kacey Musgraves’ first single since her 2021 album “Star-Crossed”, “Deeper Well” offers an intimate, contemplative reflection on major life changes.
Finally, Caroline Polachek and Weyes Blood team up for a new version of “Butterfly Net”, while Maggie Rogers’ new album “Don’t Forget Me” is a stripped-back, authentic return to basics, written across just five days in December 2022 and January 2023
