Liverpool-based charity fund, The Ant Clausen Fire it up Fund, is offering £20,000 to young people looking to break into the creative industry. The fund was created in the name of Ant Clausen, a well-known photographer who passed away in New Zealand last year. The monetary grant will be offered to any individual aged between 16 and 25 looking for help in starting a career in the creative industries in the Liverpool City Region. Applications opened recently and will remain open until March 26th, 2024. The aim of the fund is to turn the passion of young photographers and filmmakers into a career.
The Ant Clausen Fire it up Fund has a unique approach to philanthropy. In addition to offering financial support to promising young creatives, the initiative also provides a bespoke 12-month plan to assist with educational and developmental progress. This could include training, mentoring, and making resources available such as events which tend to be difficult for beginners to access. The Open Eye Gallery is the main partner behind The Ant Clausen Fire it up Fund, with other official supporters including the ACC Liverpool Group and Bold Street Coffee.
Sarah Fisher, Director at Open Eye Gallery, stated that the fund was established to honour and celebrate how Ant lived his life and built his career. “Our ambition is not to just provide financial support to people, but to create a relationship between our partners and the award winners that is fun, straightforward and full of energy.” She further added that the chance to help young people get their foot into the creative industries purely based on talent is a very powerful and proud moment for the team.
Faye Dyer, CEO of ACC Liverpool, added that the company had a long and close relationship with Ant and was proud to be an official supporter of The Ant Clausen Fire it up Fund. Meanwhile, Matt Farrell from GSG Hospitality who owns Bold Street Coffee shared that “the chance to help young aspiring photographers and film makers is something we wanted to be a part of”, and hoped that as many people as possible would apply for the award
