Indie icons The Libertines have announced a massive summer show in Brighton, as part of the 2024 installment of On The Beach. The gig will take place on Sunday, July 28, and the band is reportedly “delighted” to be participating in the event. The shows are being held on Brighton beach, with The Kooks confirmed to play on Sunday, July 21. More artists are set to be announced in the coming weeks. The gigs have been organized in association with Radio X, and tickets will be available from February 14 at 10am GMT.
The show in Brighton comes in light of The Libertines getting set to share their highly anticipated album ‘All Quiet On The Eastern Esplanade’ on March 8. It’s the long-awaited follow-up to 2015’s ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’. Doherty and co. first shared news of the LP in October, and the details have been trickling out since then. The band has since released three singles, ‘Run Run Run’, ‘Night of the Hunter’ and ‘Shiver’. The album is one inspired by unity and connection. “All we want to do is write beautiful songs. That’s what we’ve always wanted to do, but we got distracted – mostly by ourselves,” said Doherty to NME.
These shows are sure to be an unmissable event for the band’s fans, and with a massive summer show on the horizon and a much-anticipated album on the way, The Libertines are back in full force. Their first shows in years received rave reviews and this new gig is likely to be no exception. The band’s live shows have always been a highlight, filled with energetic performances and an infectious enthusiasm. With more artists set to be announced soon, these beach gigs are the perfect way to enjoy some live music and spend a day in the sun
