Police have called on the suspect in the Clapham acid attack to turn himself in following the incident last Wednesday, which saw a mother and her two daughters assaulted with a corrosive liquid in south London. Abdul Shokoor Ezedi, 35, who has not been seen since the attack, is wanted for attempted murder, according to the Metropolitan Police. Authorities believe Ezedi had been in a relationship with the woman, which had since broken down. He arranged to meet her before carrying out the attack. The woman and her two children were assaulted while travelling in a car to the meeting spot.
Speaking at a press briefing, Cdr Jon Savell declined to provide any details on how long the relationship had lasted or how it had ended. The woman, 31, remains sedated in hospital, with police stating she may lose the sight in her right eye. Ezedi was last seen crossing Vauxhall Bridge and onto Vauxhall Bridge Road at around 11pm GMT on Wednesday. His injuries have been described as “significant” and could be fatal if not treated properly. There has been no evidence Ezedi has received hospital treatment.
Ezedi, who is believed to have come to the UK on a lorry from Afghanistan in 2016 and is originally from Newcastle, is not the father of the two girls who were injured in the attack. Police have said they are exploring a number of theories as to where Ezedi could have gone, including heading north, east, south, or west of the capital, or even abroad. While there has been speculation he could have entered the River Thames, no relevant reports have been made, and no bodies have been discovered matching his description
