Henry Cavill, best known for his roles in Man Of Steel, The Tudors and The Witcher, has opened up about his distaste for filming sex scenes. Despite having done many intimate scenes on television shows, Cavill stated that he sometimes felt “uncomfortable” while filming them. In a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, he said, “I don’t understand them – I’m not a fan.”
The actor continued to say that sometimes sex scenes can be beneficial to a movie, especially when they help with storytelling. However, he also stated that they are overused these days. He added, “It’s when you have a sense where you’re going, ‘Is this really necessary or is it just people with less clothing on?'”
Cavill further explained that sex scenes might not always be necessary for audiences as the human imagination can trump actions on screen. While they can sometimes be important and beneficial for storytelling, they are often used as a cop-out in television shows and movies. “So, it can be a little bit of a cop-out if a TV show or a movie is just filled with gyrating bodies,” he said.
Interestingly, Cavill was recently nearly cast as James Bond, but was ultimately deemed “too young.” Despite this setback, the actor continues to work and express his creative opinions on his craft, including his disdain for sex scenes in cinema
