Liverpool, the spiritual home of Cunard, is set to host the grand Naming Ceremony of the cruise line’s newest ship, Queen Anne. The ceremony will form part of a lap-of-honour introductory voyage around the British Isles on Monday 3 June. Renowned British pop star Matt Willis and his TV presenter wife, Emma, will host the event as Cunard’s special guests. The couple recently recorded a message on Instagram giving more information about the event.

The Queen Anne is due to arrive in Liverpool shortly after sunrise as part of an exclusive 14-night voyage around the British Isles. Special arrangements are being made to welcome the ship that will include a nod to the city where Cunard’s transatlantic service was first launched in 1840. The series of events on the day are set to draw tens of thousands of visitors from around the world who will mark the ship’s triumphant arrival with much fanfare.

Cunard has strong bonds with Liverpool, and the Naming Ceremony is just one event among many high-profile happenings that Cunard cradles on the celebrated waterfront. The Liverpool Council Leader, Liam Robinson, sees the Naming as yet another prestigious event that Liverpool is staging, pointing out that the city shares rich historical ties with Cunard.

The 14-night excursion will see guests given exclusive opportunities to take part in various surprise celebrations taking place around the Liverpool Pier Head, including performances by world-renowned entertainers. The cruise calls at various ports, including Edinburgh, Greenock, Belfast, and Cork before culminating at Southampton
