They were initially approached to port the games, but instead, the team wanted to see the games fully remade for modern consoles. They created a production-quality, playable demo for a remake of Silent Hill 2, but Konami ultimately went with another studio, Bloober Team, for the development of the Silent Hill 2 Remake.

According to Miyatani, the demo was created “to introduce players to the world of Silent Hill”. She went on to say that The Short Message was just the beginning of what’s to come for the franchise. It’s worth noting that in November last year, Konami announced the Silent Productions banner, an in-house Silent Hill development team intended to create large-scale projects that will play a central role across multiple platforms.
