Faithless will be making their return to the stage this year at Camp Bestival with a show that pays tribute to the late band member Maxi Jazz. They will perform with a full live band, as the Shropshire-based sister-event to Bestival announced that Faithless will “incorporate old and new music” for their first performance in eight years. Vocalised by Jazz, hits such as ‘Insomnia’ and ‘God is a DJ’ helped Faithless become recognised as one of the most prominent acts in British electronic music.
In a Facebook statement made following his death, Faithless commemorated Jazz as “a brilliant lyricist, a DJ, a Buddhist, a magnificent stage presence, car lover, endless talker, beautiful person, moral compass and genius.” Jazz passed away in December 2022 at the age of 65. In the months after his passing, ‘Insomnia’ climbed the charts, three decades after its release.
This year’s performance at Camp Bestival is reportedly only one of two festivals the electronic group has planned for 2024. Faithless asked fans to light a candle and “pray for peace” to mark the one-year anniversary of Jazz’s passing in December 2023. “We are so happy to announce the return of Faithless to the live arena after eight years away, and we can’t think of a better way to return than to the hallowed fields of Camp Bestival, in all their joyful glory,” said Sister Bliss according to NME.
The festival will take place in Shropshire on August, 15-18. Other acts announced in this year’s line-up include headliners Paloma Faith, Rick Astley, and McFly and a “UK festival exclusive” for Pete Tong’s Ibiza Classics show. Orbital will also perform at Camp Bestival this year, following the upcoming release of ‘The Green Album’, a remastered edition of their debut 1991 album. Tickets for Camp Bestival, Shropshire, are available for purchase.
Faithless’ performance will serve as a tribute to Jazz, one of the group’s most iconic members. The singer passed away in December 2022, leaving behind a legacy of songs that continue to resonate with music lovers today. By returning to the stage after eight years, Faithless will honour Jazz’s memory while showcasing their own musical talents. Fans can look forward to hearing old favourites as well as new material, all performed with the distinctive style that has cemented Faithless’ status as one of the UK’s most enduring acts
