LA-based singer-songwriter Chappell Roan has put together an exclusive playlist for NME to accompany her recent cover story feature. Every week, NME showcases a rising artist on its cover, and this week, Roan takes centrestage. In the accompanying interview, Roan talks about her journey of growing up as a musician in the Midwest and how her music has been shaped by her experiences.

To celebrate her cover story feature, Roan has curated a playlist titled ‘I’m Depressed & I Love Pop Music’ featuring tracks from Grimes, Lime Garden, Hemlocke Springs, and Tyler, The Creator. The playlist is available for streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.

In 2023, Roan released her debut album called ‘The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess,’ and NME gave it a four-star review. She recently headlined at London’s iconic LGBTQ+ venue, Heaven, and is now preparing to join Olivia Rodrigo on her US tour later this spring.

In her interview with NME, Roan speaks about the importance of giving back to the queer community that’s been instrumental in her career. She has pledged to donate a portion of her sales and ticket sales to LGBTQ+ charities and events.
