Kathleen Hanna has launched a limited edition clothing line named ‘Early Days’ to raise funds for Peace Sisters, which is a non-profit organization supporting girls’ education in Togo, West Africa. The campaign features the legacy of hip-hop artists in the 80s that inspired people to pursue their dreams. Hip-hop stars including Salt ‘N’ Pepa, Queen Latifah, and Run-DMC are featured in the campaign. Janette Beckman has taken photographs of the clothing line.

The collection is available for pre-order at earlydays.store for two weeks and printed only based on demand to minimize waste. The project aims to raise $20,000 for Peace Sisters. Later this year, in May 2024, her memoir titled Rebel Girl: My Life as a Feminist Punk will be published via Harper Collins imprint Ecco. The memoir will reveal her personal experiences and relationships as a feminist punk and will cover the emergence of the Riot Grrrl movement.

The description of the book reads, “being in a ‘girl band’, especially a punk girl band, in those years was not a simple or safe prospect. Male violence and antagonism threatened at every turn, and surviving as a singer who was a lightning rod for controversy took limitless amounts of determination”.  She shares about the relationships she developed during those years that buoyed her. Hanna will be going on a book tour in the US.

Bikini Kill reunited in 2019 and completed their first UK and European tour in 18 years back in April this year. The band members are known for their fight against social inequality and gender-based violence. Hanna is an Ambassador of Peace Sisters project, which supports women’s education in Togo, West Africa. The clothing line is open for pre-order and all the proceeds go to the Peace Sisters project
