The documentary film “Turn Up The Bass” tells the story of Deaf Rave, a DJ collective that has been running for two decades. Deaf DJ Troi Lee, who founded the group, is featured in the film along with a team of producers, DJs, MCs, sign singers, and dancers. The film celebrates key moments for Deaf Rave, including its time at Glastonbury Festival and its anniversary event.

The short documentary was made through the Netflix Documentary Talent Fund and is available to watch on YouTube. Lee discusses how he founded the collective and created opportunities for Deaf artists while fighting against prejudice. He hopes the film will elevate deaf culture to the mainstream and inspire and teach the younger, Deaf generation.

The release of the documentary has left Lee emotional and honored. He believes the film will be impactful, inspiring and motivating while teaching mainstream hearing viewers about deaf music. He thanks Netflix for giving him this opportunity for deaf and disabled people and hopes to see more of that coming in the future.

You can watch “Turn Up The Bass” on YouTube and learn more about Deaf Rave on their Instagram. The film was directed by Ted Evans and Executive Produced by Caroline Williamson
