Russell Brand has spoken out about the sexual assault allegations made against him, stating that they were “appalling” and “very, very hurtful”. Brand was accused of rape, sexual assault and emotional abuse following an investigation by The Times, The Sunday Times and Channel 4’s Dispatches. The events in question reportedly took place between 2006 and 2013. Russell Brand has denied all of these claims, and police have not taken any further action against him.
Brand was questioned by police in November following the accusations in the documentary. In a recent interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, Brand called the allegations “hurtful and painful” and argued that they were made in a “deliberate profound attempt to shut down any dissent in an astonishingly aggressive way”. He also acknowledged that he had lived a promiscuous lifestyle in the past, however he said that he did not endorse this behaviour.
Brand went on to praise conspiracy theory advocates Alex Jones and David Icke, saying that they had been “ahead of the curve”. Carlson later wrote on Twitter that Brand had been “colluded to shut down and destroy” by governments. It is unclear which governments he was referring to, and neither Brand nor Carlson provided any more information on this topic.
