Judas, the new game from BioShock creator Ken Levine, has released a trailer showcasing similar mechanics to his previous games. Including powers to enhance gameplay and robocops as enemies, it has been compared to BioShock in space. There is no confirmation of a release date, as the game is still being developed.
Management of Levine’s games are a pivotal part of the development process, according to a report by Bloomberg in 2022, which said Levine evaluates each sections of his games which can lead to unfinished aspects that are scrapped. Despite the report, Judas was revealed at The Game Awards the same year. Development began in 2014, and it’s set on a collapsing starship where players choose the fate of protagonist Judas.
Levine worked on BioShock and BioShock Infinite but not BioShock 2, with Judas being his first game since the latter, as well as his first entry into the gaming world after a break from traditional storytelling. Described as “narrative legos”, the ever-replaying story-driven game was described by Levine in an interview with Rolling Stone.
