Lana Del Rey has revealed that she will be releasing a new country album titled ‘Lasso’. The American singer-songwriter announced this news at Billboard’s pre-Grammy event, which was held in Los Angeles on January 31. The album is being made with country music maker Luke Laird and her regular collaborator, producer and Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff.
During the event, Del Rey expressed her affection for working with Antonoff, proclaiming that she must have been “born under one of those talent, lucky musical stars” and praising the Bleachers’ singer as “one in a million.” She also confirmed that the upcoming project would see her venture into country music and said, “We’re going country. It’s happening. That’s why Jack has followed me to Muscle Shoals, Nashville, Mississippi, over the last four years.”
This album will be Del Rey’s tenth studio album and the first official country album she will release. However, this is not the first time that she has dabbled in the genre. In December, Del Rey shared a cover of the John Denver classic ‘Take Me Home, Country Roads,’ and in September, she performed a rendition of ‘Stand By Your Man’. Similarly, in January, she gave a preview of a new country song titled ‘Henry, Come On’.
‘Lasso’ does not have a specific release date, but Del Rey did reveal that the album will be available by September. The ‘Video Games’ singer is also scheduled to headline several festivals this Summer, including Reading & Leeds with Liam Gallagher and Blink-182, Primavera Sound with The National, Pulp, and SZA, Hangout Festival with ODESZA and Zach Bryan, and Coachella with Tyler, The Creator and Doja Cat
