A 44-year-old man, Antony Snook, of Hartcliffe, Bristol, has appeared in Bristol Magistrates’ Court charged with two counts of murder following the deaths of two teenagers. Mason Rist, 15, and Max Dixon, 16, were killed in Knowle West, Bristol, on Saturday night. Snook spoke only to confirm his name, address, and date of birth during the hearing, and is due to appear at Bristol Crown Court on Friday. He was brought into the dock wearing a grey jumper and tracksuit bottoms, with a detention officer handcuffed to him.
The charges were authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service, following a review of the evidence by the Major Crime Investigation Team of Avon and Somerset Police. The force confirmed that over 100 officers and staff are working on the case, which is still “continuing at pace,” and this represents a “pivotal moment” in the inquiry. Snook is one of eight people arrested as part of the investigation. The other five are still in police custody, with two released on bail.
The two teenagers were attacked at around 23:20 GMT on Saturday in Ilminster Avenue and died in hospital. The police force has urged anyone who has information about the incident to come forward and help their investigation. This tragic event has shocked the local community, and it is hoped that the individuals responsible will be brought to justice.
BBC West is closely following the case, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available. Both teenagers will be missed by their friends and family, who are mourning their sudden and violent deaths. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time
