After 20 years together, You Me At Six have announced their decision to split up. The band, fronted by Josh Franceschi, have enjoyed a successful career, releasing eight albums since their formation in the mid-2000s. Last year’s ‘Truth Decay’ reached Number Four in the UK, while 2014’s ‘Cavalier Youth’ and 2021’s ‘Suckapunch’ both hit the top of the UK album charts.
Franceschi shared a statement last night (January 31) confirming the news. “When we started YMAS we were kids. We only ever wanted longevity, to travel and to experience life as a group of friends. We feel like on the eve of our 20th anniversary as a band, now is a good time to call time,” he said.
Although the band are breaking up, they will embark on a farewell tour in 2024 and 2025 to celebrate their career and say goodbye to fans. A world tour is planned for 2025. Fans can sign up for updates via the You Me At Six website.
As part of their split announcement, You Me At Six also shared a career highlights video on social media, thanking fans for being “the heartbeat of this band”.
YMAS will still play their previously-announced ‘Cavalier Youth’ 10th anniversary tour with Deaf Havana next month, as well as a special show in Brighton as part of this year’s Brits Week in aid of War Child
