Grammy-nominated artist SZA has been announced as the latest performer at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. The Recording Academy took to social media to break the news, proclaiming: “You don’t want to snooze and miss this moment!” The singer joins a star-studded performance lineup that includes Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Olivia Rodrigo, Billy Joel, Burna Boy, U2, and Joni Mitchell. The ceremony will take place on February 4, 2024, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on CBS at 8 PM Eastern Time or 5 PM Pacific Time.
SZA currently leads the nominations with nine nods, including Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. Victoria Monét and Phoebe Bridgers both have received seven nods, while Boygenius, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, and Miley Cyrus are also up for six nominations including Album of the Year. Despite having previously been nominated for 15 awards at the Grammys in total, SZA has only ever won one, as a feature on Doja Cat’s ‘Kiss Me More’ at the 2022 ceremony.
In an interview, SZA described the Grammys as a “thirsty, dark space” to be in, stating: “The Grammy room is one of the weirdest rooms ever. There is so much wanting in there. Wanting to be noticed, wanting to be, like, acknowledged, to win, wanting to just be amongst n****s in the room, wanting to feel valuable or validated.” Despite her issues with the event, SZA has been nominated for a total of 15 Grammy Awards throughout her career.
SZA has been teasing the release of the ‘Lana’ deluxe edition of her album, ‘SOS,’ which she first announced last September. In December, she revealed the six variations of album covers for ‘Lana,’ which will also feature “seven to 10 new songs.” The singer reflected on ‘SOS’ in a separate post, thanking her fans for their support: “this is beyond my wildest dreams…I have to express the immense GRATITUDE I have for every person that made this possible.”
The 66th Annual Grammy Awards will be a star-studded event that promises to be one of the highlights of the year. With SZA leading the nominations, fans will be eagerly anticipating her performance at the event
