Bala Town FC has invited former footballer and BBC presenter Gary Lineker to visit their ground and watch a game after he made a joke about the Welsh Premier League being a “farmers’ league.” The comment was made during BBC One’s coverage of the FA Cup tie between Newport County and Manchester United when the former striker referred to Newport’s Will Evans, who previously played for Bala Town and worked on a dairy farm.
Lineker responded to the invitation on Twitter, stating that his comment was referring to Evans’ background as a farmer. Bala Town FC Secretary Ruth Crump called the comments “unfortunate” and said that the Cymru Premier should receive more respect.

Bala Town FC expressed that their league is one of high quality and deserves greater recognition.
It is uncertain whether Lineker will take Bala Town FC up on their invitation to visit their ground
