Bill Murray returns in ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ trailer

The latest trailer for the upcoming movie, “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” has revealed the return of Bill Murray to the franchise, reprising his role as Peter Venkman. Murray can be seen donning the iconic Ghostbusters suit and proton pack in the trailer. The plot of the film is set in New York and follows a frost engulfing the city due to a mysterious evil force. Along with Murray, the original cast members, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Annie Potts return to the franchise, as well as the villainous ‘Mean Green Ghost’, Slimer.

The trailer also features Murray being approached by an unknown creature, warning his fellow ghostbusters of its presence. The last shot shows the iconic Slimer returning to pass through Finn Wolfhard’s character Trevor. The film will also feature Paul Rudd, Mckenna Grace and Carrie Coon.

Directed by Gil Kenan and co-written with “Afterlife” director Jason Reitman, whose father also directed the original two “Ghostbusters” movies, the latest instalment follows on from 2021’s “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” In a four-star review of “Afterlife,” NME described the film as “an authentic ‘Ghostbusters’ movie without quite slipping into retread mode,” signalling a possible revival for the franchise.

In other news, Finn Wolfhard was seen in a cast photo released earlier this month confirming that season five of “Stranger Things” is underway. “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” is set for release on November 11, 2022, fans of the franchise are eagerly awaiting its debut
