SONIKKU’s upcoming album, ‘Whirlwind of Malevolence’, is set to be released on April 12 and is promised to be multi-genre, incorporating elements of electronica, hip hop, Europop, and trance. The album is based on the idea of capturing an all-out night partying and will feature collaborations with DJs, live-coding producers, R&B musicians, and rappers, including Partiboi69, DJ Dave, Bayli, Raky Ripper, Miss Madelin, and Deto Black.
SONIKKU has shared the lead single, ‘Debaucherous’, which he produced with Partiboi69, claiming that it “encapsulates the whole vibe” of the LP. The song features stabs of synth, snappy drumbeats, and hyperactive vocals and is said to be inspired by Bodyrox and ‘Wearing my Rolex’ by Wiley. SONIKKU started the song with the word ‘Debaucherous’, which he heard in a YouTube video called ‘Dancefloor Debauchery’ where partygoers were being interviewed at a rave, and he sampled one of the interviews to appear at the beginning of the song.
SONIKKU said that he wanted to include all the genres he listens to and reflect as much of his personality as possible in the album, which he considered to be extremely varied. He added that he has always been told that he is “too pop for dance, too dance for pop” and likes sitting in that weird zone of uncertainty.
Whirlwind of Malevolence is set for release through Bella Union and will be available on April 12. You can listen to the lead single, ‘Debaucherous’, featuring Partiboi69, on all major streaming platforms. Two more singles are also set for release before the full album drops
