PinkPantheress has teased a new track on TikTok, sharing an 18-second snippet of herself lip-syncing to the yet-untitled song. The lyrics feature the lines “It seems like you wanted to keep one another/But I have to go now and you have to go now/I hate that it’s done now.” The video also showed PinkPantheress trying on outfits that could be hinting at the theme of the song’s potential music video.
This upcoming track will be the British songwriter’s first release since her debut album ‘Heaven Knows’ in November. The album was named by NME as one of the 10 best debut albums of the year, with the publication praising the album’s “ability to create British wistfulness”. PinkPantheress interpolated K-pop girl group f(x)’s song ‘Ice Cream’ on the album, calling the group her “inspirations”.
In an i-D interview, PinkPantheress revealed her childhood dream of becoming a K-pop idol. She had been depressed for a year when she was younger because she couldn’t become a K-pop star: “I remember I would go to bed upset each day that I know I couldn’t be a K-pop star…I used to cry myself to sleep, even though I can’t perform like that. I can’t dance at all. Like, I just love watching it.” In the interview, PinkPantheress also named some of her favorite K-pop acts, including f(x), BTS, EXO, Red Velvet, and SHINee.
It is yet unknown when PinkPantheress will be releasing her new track or its title but fans of the 21 year old artist will no doubt be excited to hear more from her soon.
