Irish band U2 has shared a video of their performance of ‘Even Better Than the Real Thing’ from their Las Vegas residency. The concert was performed in the Las Vegas Sphere, a state-of-the-art venue located in the Venetian resort, which opened in September 2021. The band’s residency at the venue is titled ‘U2:UV Achtung Baby’ and will continue until 2 March. The stunning performance video shows the impressive depth and breadth of the venue, with drone footage capturing the sparkling visuals.

U2’s song ‘Even Better Than the Real Thing’ was first released on their 1991 album ‘Achtung Baby’. It was a hit, and is still included in the band’s setlist to this day. NME recently reviewed U2’s Las Vegas residency, stating that the concert “truly takes your breath away”. The band’s technological expertise was noted as a highlight, with the audience treated to giant helicopters, falling letters, widescreen desert landscapes, and more.

Next week, U2 will be giving a special performance from the Sphere at the annual Grammy Awards ceremony. It will mark the first time that the vibrant visual venue will feature as part of the official awards broadcast. Earlier this month, it was reported that the Las Vegas Sphere had reportedly lost $98.4 million since its opening. The first sold-out U2 shows and advertising revenue contributed positively to that bottom line, but extrapolated figures predict a continued loss of $1.27 per share this quarter.

U2 is currently working on a new album, with lead singer Bono disclosing that it will be tied somewhat to drummer Larry Mullen Jr.’s medical status. Mullen has been recovering from neck surgery and, although he did pull out of U2’s Las Vegas residency due to this issue, the concerts have carried on regardless
