Rinzen announces debut concept album, shares lead single ‘Burnin”

Rinzen, the American DJ and producer, has made the announcement that his first album, titled ‘Bend to the Light’, will be released on April 5th. The lead single on the album, which is called ‘Burnin’, features guest vocals from the artist Shallou. The single is a combination of shimmering chords and a beat that appears to growl, along with a bass synth that seems to go on forever. The distinctive sound of Shallou’s voice then enters and takes over, as the strings in the background draw full attention to the lyrics that touch on ideas of love and obsession.

‘Bend to the Light’ draws inspiration from a cyberpunk, high-tech aesthetic, where what might at first seem to be bright and shining can also conceal a dangerous and hidden shadow. According to the press release for the album, the concept behind it embraces the idea of bending to the universe (spiritually), bending to an authoritarian future government (dystopian), and finally the idea of making decisions which will bend towards the light (idealistic), because in the end, this is a new world with all the emotional problems, joys, and relationships that people deal with now.

“I don’t think I was ready to write an album until this very moment,” Rinzen explained in an interview with Mixmag. After many years of learning about scoring work, analog synths, vocal recording, songwriting, and sampling, he felt that this was the right moment to bring everything together. The album, he said, was the chance to take all these different skills and, by using them, create an entire world, which is what he did with ‘Bend to the Light’.

Two further songs from the album are due to be released before the album itself. ‘Bend to the Light’ is available for pre-order now, while ‘Burnin’ featuring Shallou is available to stream on various platforms. Rinzen fans have a lot to look forward to.
