Movement Detroit releases first 20 names for 2024 festival

The Movement Detroit festival has unveiled its initial line-up featuring 20 acts for the upcoming festival. The event will take place over Memorial Day Weekend from May 25-27 in 2023. The festival will be held at Hart Plaza in Detroit—the birthplace of techno—and will include six stages, from funk to ghettotech, as well as veteran and rising star performers on the Stargate Stage and Detroit Stage, and the Underground Stage presented as a “warehouse party.” The main event center will feature the Movement Stage at the festival’s core.

The event will also have several debuts, with acts such as James Blake, I Hate Models, Jaguar, and VTSS set to grace the stage. Several big names will also appear at the festival, including Kevin Saunderson and the UK’s Idris Elba with a collaborative set, as well as Fatboy Slim, Honey Dijon, Goldie, and more. A live band is also set to perform with Goldie.

The festival will be in its 18th edition since launching in 2006 and has yet to reveal its headliners for its 2023 lineup. Beyond showcasing local talent, Movement Detroit remains one of the country’s most vital music events, drawing in large crowds from across the world.

As usual, the festival is sure to be a success as the movement seeks to sustain the techno scene in Detroit while also showcasing diverse voices in the electronic music realm. Festival organizers made it clear that this year’s festival will be special, with acts that promise to engage fans in a way that few others can.
