R&B singer Mary J. Blige has announced that she will not perform at Las Vegas’ Lovers & Friends festival due to an error. Taking to her Instagram story, Blige clarified that she would be busy preparing for her Strength of a Woman Summit that was occurring one week later. The festival revealed its 2024 lineup two days prior to the clarification with Blige originally included in the list.

Blige’s performance at her Strength of a Woman Festival, set somewhere between May 10 and 12 in New York City, remains unaffected. The singer released the first teaser of her upcoming festival this month, though the official date and lineup are yet to be confirmed.

Lovers & Friends Festival, slated to occur on May 4, has also announced their lineup. Headliners include Janet Jackson, who had been previously announced in 2020’s postponed festival, Usher performing his 2004 album ‘Confessions’, and Backstreet Boys. Other acts set to perform include Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, TLC, Ciara, Ne-Yo, T-Pain, Timbaland, Jason Derulo, and more.

Blige contributed to the soundtrack of the Steven Spielberg-produced film adaptation of ‘The Colour Purple’ with ‘When I Can’t Do Better’, most recently. Her last full-length album, ‘Good Morning Gorgeous’, was released in 2022 and was nominated for several Grammy awards. The album’s titular track was nominated for Record of the Year. Blige is set to appear on Diddy’s upcoming album, his first studio album in 17 years, alongside The Weeknd, Justin Bieber, 21 Savage, DJ Khaled, Busta Rhymes and more
