Rapper Ice Spice has released a new song titled “Think U The Sh*t (Fart)” for her first release of 2024. The song, which is available on YouTube, taunts, “Think you the shit, bitch? / You not even the fart.” This full version has extended the previous viral snippet on TikTok where numerous users created over 300,000 videos attached to the sound to the amusement of users worldwide.
The music video for the song was shot in South Beach, Florida, with Ice Spice twerking, dancing with a crowd, and rapping lines from the song outside a 24-hour shop. The release comes after her recent collaboration track with Rema called “Pretty Girl,” following her debut EP “Like…?” that the NME rated four stars.
The popularity of Ice Spice is not without controversy, as she was recently sued for alleged copyright infringement on her hit “In Ha Mood” by Brooklyn rapper/songwriter Duval ‘D.Chamberz’ Chamberlain and Bronx sound engineer/producer Kenley ‘Kass The Producer’ Carmenate. They claimed that the name, hook, chorus, phrasing, and tempo of their song “In That Mood” was copied without consent or credit.
Despite the lawsuits, Ice Spice continues to climb the hip-hop charts, and she was booked for significant music festivals like Roskilde and Coachella. NME magazine remarks that the post-viral period is crucial, and although longevity seems attainable for Ice Spice, fickle fans and casual listeners can still be a challenge.
