Music charity Youth Music has teamed up with Young Guns Network and the AWAL label to offer a series of professional networking workshops meant to lift up creatives in the UK. The initiative will start off with an event at Sony Music Entertainment’s AWAL office in London on January 30 that will offer tickets at £5. While the events are aimed at 18- to 30-year-olds, the organisation said that it will waive the fee any for anyone who can’t afford it.
The NextGen Community programme seeks to foster diversity and inclusivity to offer equal opportunities in the music industry to all. Youth Music’s research found that a whopping 77% of emerging creatives are struggling due to their lacking industry connections. As such, the workshops will focus primarily on networking and participants will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from cultural and music brands such as Levi’s, Meta and more.
Young Guns Network is a group of young professionals from the music industry that aims to create new structures and platforms that “address the barriers to entry and promote equal opportunities for all, irrespective of demographics”. The organisation has said that it will announce the speakers for the workshop in due course.
The other cities that the networking workshops will hit are Birmingham, Bristol and Glasgow
