London-based musician Fabiana Palladino is set to release her self-titled debut album after years of meticulous work behind the scenes. Palladino first released her solo material in 2017 after being approached by friend and confidant Jai Paul in 2014, before signing to Paul Institute/XL Recordings in 2020. The album is an exploration of aloneness through human connection and raw emotional analysis, carried across 10 songs.
Intricately self-produced, the album is coated in lush, emotive instrumentals that pay homage to 80s and 90s R&B, soul, pop, and disco, with a contemporary focus. The fusion of old and new influences creates an exemplar classic pop record that is highly anticipated by fans of Palladino’s session work and emerging musical talent.
Palladino’s journey to this debut has been introspective and personal, with a deeply felt sense of strength and power. She explains that while watching friends marry and have children, she felt a certain amount of pain at not following the same path but managed to transform those emotions into her craft. “How can I embrace that and create power for myself? I feel amazing about it now, and so happy that my life has gone in that way,” she says.
Palladino’s debut album is expected to be a powerful statement that cements her status as a rising star. The album will be released on Paul Institute/XL Recordings, and fans can purchase the Rough Trade Exclusive cream vinyl shared with the artist.
As part of Rough Trade On The Rise, Palladino is one of the emerging artists with music worth discovering. Fans can also listen to her self-titled debut album and read about her journey in her own words on Paul Institute/XL Recordings’ website
