Squid’s latest single, “Fugue (Bin Song),” is out now and is an outtake from their second album, O Monolith. The song explores drummer and vocalist Ollie Judge’s interest in animism, with lyrics imagining a bin coming to life. Squid released a statement on social media, explaining that this track had been a fixture in their live sets over the last few years. Although it didn’t make the final cut for O Monolith, “Fugue” was recorded in a session with Dan Carey at Real World in Spring 2022, and John McEntire added some magic to the song.
NME gave O Monolith a four-star review in June, saying, “If Squid can make daring, experimental music sound as fun as this, then they will take some stopping.” The band is due to embark on a US tour in 2024 with support from Water From Your Eyes. The tour kicks off in Austin, Texas, before heading to other cities such as Dallas, Nashville, and Atlanta. Squid will wrap up their tour in Los Angeles, California.
Fans of Squid can listen to “Fugue (Bin Song)” on their preferred music streaming platform. Although it does not appear on O Monolith, fans might recognize it from the band’s live performances. Squid’s unique blend of experimental rock has captivated audiences worldwide, with their music often described as euphoric and intense. With their upcoming tour, music lovers across the US will have the opportunity to experience Squid’s music in person and see the band’s unique energy on stage
