The Oscars are rapidly approaching, as the awards season is well and truly underway. Last year’s ceremony saw ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’ win the prestigious Best Picture award, as well as an array of other accolades, including Best Actress for Michelle Yeoh. This year, the event is set to be one of the most contentious contests in recent years. With films like ‘Oppenheimer’, ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’, ‘Poor Things’, ‘Past Lives’, and ‘Barbie’ all in the mix, there’s no telling who will come out on top.
The 96th Academy Awards ceremony is set to take place on Sunday, March 10, 2023, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles. For those watching in the US, the ceremony will be televised live on ABC from 7pm ET/4pm PT. For UK viewers, the ceremony will be available to stream via Sky and NOW TV, with a 90-minute highlights package set to air on ITV the following day at 10.45pm.
While the nominations for this year’s Oscars won’t be announced until Tuesday, January 23, there are already a number of films that are expected to be frontrunners at the event. These include Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’, Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’, ‘Poor Things’ from director Yorgos Lanthimos, and Celine Song’s ‘Past Lives’. Other films that are likely to receive multiple nominations include ‘The Holdovers’, ‘Anatomy Of A Fall’, ‘Killers Of The Flower Moon’, ‘Maestro’, ‘The Zone Of Interest’, and ‘American Fiction’.
It will be interesting to see how this year’s awards ceremony pans out, given the number of films in contention and the talent on display.
